Stroke in my left eye

Hi everyone. I am new here. I was recently diagnosed with a stroke in my left eye which has caused total blindness in my left eye… It happened in 2012 but i had stage 3 uterine cancer at the same time, which i beat, btw but no one was concerned with my eye at the time…

I hear ya. I had my 2nd open heart surgery and during it had a stroke. They never caught it. I complained about my vision in recovery and they said it was fine. I find out 6 months later that im legally blind, and haven’t worked or driven in 7 years. Sometimes it seems drs dont care or blow off what concerns us. But im yakking. Congrats on beating the cancer!

Hello, how are you doing today? Are you okay, do you need a friend, i am here if you do… Hugs

Huge adjustments! I went to Lighthouse for the blind for 3 months. Took mobility lessens, never wanted a cane. Then went to a school a got my Guide dog. Yeah, my Neurologists knew what they were talking about, one sad, “whatever it is just learn to live with it” the other called me a “f-ing liar”! I was suicidal till I went outside the hospital and found the awesome eye specialist i have now. But i really miss driving, and having the freedom of coming and going when “I” want and not relying on others for rides. Autonomous cars cant get here fast enough!

HI my name is Dave about a month or so I strated to see double of every thing it got to the point I was having a hard time driving, what’s going on tomorrow or gist he said I had a mini stroke on the right side of the nerve behind the eye nerve palsy. he said it could clear up on its own in about 6 months, he sent me for an MRI and some blood tests and made an appointment to see the neurologist just in case it did not clear up the neurosurgeon could do surgery on that particular eye, it’s been about a month and I want a patch on the bad eye and also in the good idea to drive my depth perception has became fairly decent I have not seeing a neurologist of yet. Is really scary and I’m not sure how to proceed with this. Can anyone enlighten me in regards to this particular problem thank you.

Hi Dave, I’m Nancy. I have worn a patch also on my blind eye and it does help your brain to retrain to see out of your good eye… Have you been to a retina specialist, he has certain eye tests that he can see the nerves in your eye, i went and rhat is how i found out i had a stroke in my left eye and it killed the nerve completely, so you may want to try rhat, a Retina specialist can give you lots of information.

It is very scary… I am very greatful for my good eye… I hope this helped u…

I am here for you anytime you need a friend, we are in the same boat… Hugs

Itoo have experienced doctors blowing off concers that are brought to there attention:be PRESISTANT and even AASSERTIVE if you are ignored. Better yet get a second opinion. I found another doctor.
