Bronchitis for 3 weeks

hello i’m 19 and i’ve had asthma like my whole life. i’ve had bronchitis for like the past 3 weeks. my doctor prescribed me z-pack and now i’m on amoxicillin. i think my bronchitis is cleared maybe? but i have a really bad phlegm cough and it’s been really difficult to cough it all out bc it gets stuck and then i end up coughing so much that i throw up and because of this i have been struggling to keep food inside my stomach. does anyone have any tips on getting rid of the phlegm easier?

Stay hydrated it thins the mucus were it is easier to spit up and out.
Also heat some water in a big pan, set it in a safe place so you don’t spill it and get burned. Hold your head above the pan and drape a towel over your head making a tent to keep the steam inside. The steam will help with the congestion in your chest and your sineses.
Take a warm shower the sream in the bath room will do the same.
Dry air irritates your nose and throat, it causes more mucus which acts as a lubricant. Place a cool mist humidifier in your bedroom. It will help you sleep, keep your nose clear, and prevent you from getting a sore throat.
Place a warm wash cloth on your face. Breathing through the damp cloth will help keep your nose and sinuses moist. The warmth will releive any pain in your head.
When sleeping prop yourself up elevating your head. This will keep the mucus from building up in the back of your throat.
Avoid your trigers they can irritae your lungs and cause mucus production.
If the mucus gets to thick cup your hand and pat your chest or have someone pat your back with a cupped hand. This vibration from the patting will help to loosen the mucus so you can cough it up and spit it out.
I hope these ideas will help you. Stay well and gentle hugs to you.

Musinex works well for thinning out mucous (if you can take it) so you can get it out.

I have done everyone of the things listed. And, the musenix seems to work the best.

I have had Asthma for 35 years, I get Bronchitis all the time. The last bout of it, I had it for 8 weeks. Four rounds of different Antibiotics, shots of steroids and Penicillin in butt. I can only get rid of the mucus if I take Mucinex DM. I still have a horse voice after a month after I was well. My doctor sent me to an ear, nose and throat doctor. Going to have a CT scan of my sinuses and they are sending me to an allergy doctor to get tested and start with Allergy shots. Also sending me to a lung Specialist. I hope that this is helpful, good luck!

I am use to using some old fashion meds & they work really good & pretty quick. I also have asthma.
I rub VICKS on my chest & a small amount under my nose before going to bed. U probably won’t like the smell, BUT if u truly want relief, Vick’s will help u.
If u continue with the phlegm, then use as u need to.
Let me know how u do? (Reply to this post)

I am a retired pediatric private duty nurse. This is some of the things we used besides the medication the doctor prescribed.
Stay well and gentle hugs to you.

Use mucinex to thin phlegm. If you do that, you will be able to get it up and out

Mucinex DM. Also have ur doctor put u on a steroid and clindamiacin. Z pack ain’t worth a crap and if ur still fighting with the phlegm then the amoxicillin isn’t working for u.
